Family-Placed Death Notice

DENTON, Charles, Jr. CHARLES B. DENTON, JR. Charles Burchum "Chuck" Denton, Jr., 66, was called home by God on May 6, 2012 after a valiant, well fought battle with renal cancer. He will long be remembered for his joy, his smile, his extraordinary love of his family and his life of service. He was born in Asheville, N.C. on March 24, 1946 to the late Bertie Lanford and Charles Burchum Denton, Sr. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. After being discharged from the service, he became an officer with the Atlanta Police Department. When Fulton County established its own department, he joined the Fulton County Police Department and served the people of Fulton County for 29 years, during which he graduated from the FBI Academy and achieved the rank of Captain, before he retired in 1994 to become the Chief of Police in Seneca, S.C. When he retired from the Seneca Police Department, he went into corporate security with Anne Cox Chambers and then Graybar Electric Company. During his battle with cancer, he gave us such courage and hope and reminded us all of the preciousness of every moment of every day. His strong faith sustained him in the most difficult times. He is survived by his fianceé, Christina Craddock; 3 amazing daughters, Katrina Sailers, Centennial, CO, Jessica Denton, Augusta, GA and Adrienne Denton Embrey, Newnan, GA; 5 loving grandchildren Jordyn Sailers, Madelyn Sailers, Samuel Sailers, Hannah Embrey and James Embrey; sisters Barbara Randall, Weaverville, NC and Becky Lawrence, E. Flat Rock, NC; brothers John Denton of Newbern, TN, Bruce Denton, Asheville, NC and David Denton of E. Flat Rock, NC; sons-in-law Jeff Sailers and Brandon Embrey; brother-in-law David Randall; sister-in-law Sheila Denton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. A Memorial Service for Chuck Denton will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30305 with a reception to follow in Kenny Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the . Arrangements by Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel.
