Family-Placed Death Notice

IMEL, Dan DAN IMEL Dan Imel, 69, of Johns Creek, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on Saturday after a courageous year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Anderson, Indiana to the late Hershel Imel and Margaret Imel. Dan graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1960 and attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He served in the United States Army as a disc jockey for the Armed Forces Network in Nuremberg, Germany. He married his wife, Cindy, in 1991 in Scottsdale, Arizona. At the age of 14 Dan was the youngest disc jockey in America. He went on to have a successful career in broadcasting at WBNS-TV, Channel 10 in Columbus, Ohio, earning two Emmy awards for his travel show High Road to Adventure. He left television to open a travel agency in 1976 in Columbus, Ohio. Dan's passion was traveling and he and his wife traveled all over the world, including 9 cruises. Dan is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cindy Cobbs Imel; his brother, Bill of Bloomfield, IN; his niece, Kelli, great-niece, Kiley, and his mother, Margaret, of Anderson, IN; and his great-nephew, Nathan, of San Francisco, CA.
