Family-Placed Death Notice

HOWELL, David Mr. Walter David Howell, age 57, of Douglasville, GA and most recently of Ashville, NC, passed away due to a heart attack on Saturday, March 30, 2013. He was born April 27, 1955 in Atlanta, GA. A gifted musician, his works when heard inspired you with their peaceful melodies and uplifting chords. Multi-talented, he was a master craftsman with wood and designed furniture and art artifacts with beauty and function. Many of us were blessed with his humble and servant spirit, compassion, and concern for all whose lives he touched. His life was dedicated to helping others on their personal journey to wellness and life balance. In addition to his private carpentry business, his career of serving others included working at Kripalu in Massachusetts and Inner Harbor in Douglasville, GA. His tenacious 'bulldog spirit' was well founded as he was a Summa Cum Laude psychology honor graduate of the University of Georgia. He also was a Phi Chi at Young Harris College where he first fell in love with his beloved mountains. He is survived by his loving parents, W.A. and Nancy Howell of Douglasville, GA; dear sister, Valerie; relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 4-8 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Baptist Church with Rev. Cecil Clegg, Rev. Kendall Taylor, and Rev. Gene Fields officiating. He will lie in state at the church prior to the service from 1-2 PM. Per his wishes he will be cremated following the services.
