Elwin SASSER

SASSER, Elwin Elwin J. Sasser, 82, of Cumming passed away on April 18, 2014 at home after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Graveside service will be held at St. James Episcopal Cemetery, 121 Polk St., Marietta on April 21st, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Elwin was born in Woodcliff (Screven Co.). After serving in the Navy, he graduated from University of Georgia with a degree in landscape Architecture. He worked for Sea Island Company for a number of years where he was involved in the planning of many fine gardens, hotels and resorts. He enjoyed flying at McKinnon Airport where he worked part-time as a flight instructor. He also enjoying navigating his sailboat, Alternative, on the Frederica and Wilmington Rivers. Elwin is survived by his mother, Kathryn Brown Henderson, his wife, Mary Reynolds Sasser, first cousin Lawrence Sasser of Liberty County, four children, Cleveland, James, Alice and Edward; daughter-in-law, Anne Marie Gray Sasser and two grandchildren, James and Grace. He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Marion Sasser of Hinesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the .
