Ennid Aertker

Family-Placed Death Notice

Ennid Sainsbury Aertker, age 84, died on February 16, 2004, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born in Vernal, Utah, the sixth of seven children. On September 1, 1939, Ennid married William Garic Aertker in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She attended LSU where she met Bill. In 1941 she graduated with Honors, a BS in Home Economics. Ennid and Bill were married 56 years. Bill preceded her in death in January of 1996. Ennid is survived by two daughters and two sons. They are Karen Erwin who lives in Shreveport, Louisiana, Nancy O'Brien who lives in Atlanta, Georgia, Steven Aertker who also lives in Atlanta, and Brian Aertker who lives in Houston, Texas. She also has ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In 1949, Ennid and Bill followed the pioneering spirit and moved to Caracas, Venezuela, where Bill worked for Exxon for fifteen years. Before returning to Baton Rouge, they proceeded to live in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. Ennid was blessed with a great sense of humor and a caring, loving nature. Her culinary creations and recipes, which she readily shared, were well known. Her homes were comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, providing a nurturing place for her family and a wonderful setting for social gatherings. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20th at 4:00 p.m. at The Greenoaks Funeral Home Chapel in Baton Rouge, Lousiana. Interment to follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday from 3-4 p.m. A special thanks to the staff at Fountain View Center on North Druid Hills Rd., Atlanta, GA for their loving care of our mother.
