Family-Placed Death Notice

Mr. Lamar E. "Gene" Dunn, Jr., age 58, of Williamson, husband of Charlene Dunn, passed away at Spalding Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, July 17, 2007. Gene was born in Pike County. He was the son of the late Lamar E. Dunn Sr.; grandson of the late M.L. Dunn and Myrtis H. Dunn and the late A.T. Chapman and Elna Ruth Chapman of Hampton. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Charlene Dunn; mother, Frances C. Dunn of Zebulon; two daughters, Stephanie Cheri of Williamson and Jennifer Noelle of Knoxville, TN; twin granddaughters, Elizabeth Noelle and Sophia Noelle; sister, Betty Barker of Ocala, FL; nieces, Carolyn Ginise, Rebecca Means and Deborah Means; great-nephew, Joey Ginise. Gene served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1974 with the 335th Tactical Fighter Squadron with the 4th Combat Tactical Fighter Wing in the Vietnam War. Honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant, he was a graduate of Goergia State with a degree in Sociology. Gene was the Director of DFACS in both Pike and Lamar Counties where he retired after 34 years of service. He enjoyed golfing, along with many other sports, spending time with his animals on the farm and being in the company of his family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 20 at 11 o'clock in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
