PARR, Larry Larry W. Parr was born December 9, 1942 in Athens, GA to Ruth Lee Couch Parr and Roy W. Parr. He was preceded in death by his parents. Larry was a 1960 graduate of Athens High School, the University of Georgia
, where he studied history, and Georgia State University, where he received his masters in history. He met his partner of 52 years at Mercer University in Macon, GA. Larry taught social studies in Madison County Schools following graduation from UGA where he was a big football fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. In the mid-sixties he and his partner moved to Atlanta where both taught at Forest Park High and worked at night with Delta Air Lines. After several years of teaching in Clayton County Schools, he went full-time with Delta, working as a Reservations Supervisor and later in Pricing and Tariffs at Delta's Atlanta headquarters. During these years, Larry also published several genealogy books, some of which are available in public libraries across the country. Taking early retirement from Delta, he continued his airlines career with S.I.T.A., a French aeronautical company, where he trained third world airline ticketing personnel first in Atlanta followed by onsite training in places like Russia, Africa, the Seychelles, Egypt and the Far East. Mr. Parr is survived by his sister Charlotte Parr Johnson, partner Luke Callaway, sister-in-law Rita Parr, nephews Don Parr and wife Diane, and Dan Parr and wife Robin, niece June Hammond and husband Don, niece Lisa Grier, great-nephew Kevin Hammond and wife Lauren, great-niece Brooke Peccia and husband Dave, great-niece Drake Vissering, great-nephews Daniel Parr, Michael Parr and Chris Parr and wife Brooke, great-great nephews Easton Parr and Andrew Peccia, and great-great nieces Caroline Peccia and Kyler Hammond. Pall bearers will be Dan Parr, Don Parr, Kevin Hammond, Steve Burris, Mark Camp and Joe Cano. Funeral services for Mr. Parr will be at 2pm this Saturday, February 23rd at Princeton UMC located at 2390 South Lumpkin Street in Athens, GA. The Reverend Bill Maxey will be officiating. Visitation with the family is one hour before the service at the church. Bridges Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens.
