Lyman Lee SMITH Jr.

SMITH, Jr., Lyman Lee Dr. Lyman Lee Smith, Jr., born July 16, 1933 passed away June 28th 2014 at the age of 80. A native of Atlanta, he was a graduate of Grady High School in 1951 and Emory School of Dentistry in 1957. He was a successful dentist for many years in the Sandy Springs area where he lived for 41 years. He proudly served in the US Army for three years and was stationed at Fort Benning, GA. obtaining the rank of Captain. He was also an active member of the Sandy Springs Masonic Lodge as well as a member of the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. He was the past President of the Arab Guard unit of Yaarab Temple. He is survived by his five children, Lyman Lee Smith, III, Frank Lee Smith, Byron Freeman Smith, Donna S. Fite and Evelyn Kay Smith. He was preceded in death by his grandson Andy Mayes and daughter Robyn Smith. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In the last years of his life, Dr. Smith enjoyed traveling and spending time with his girlfriend Beverly Bradley and his dog Betsy. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to Second Chance Dog Rescue, a cause that was near to Dr. Smith's heart. www.secondchancedogs.org Services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Sandy Springs Chapel located at 136 Mt. Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, Ga. 30328. The viewing will be held at 1pm with a service to follow at 2pm. Dr. Smith will be interred at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
