Family-Placed Death Notice

GUERRA, Dr. Norys DR. NORYS GUERRA Dr. Norys Guerra, age 54, passed away on September 1, 2013 after a very brave battle with cancer. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the family moved to New York City when Norys was 6 months old. Besides New York, she lived in Florida, Tennessee and Georgia. Dr. Guerra was a Contagious Disease Specialist and devoted herself to disease control and public safety. She had a long and distinguished career with the government, having worked for OSHA, TVA, and CDC. Above all Norys was a person of deep faith. She had a steadfast commitment to the Lord in all aspects of her life, with long membership at Atlanta West Pentecostal Church in Atlanta, Georgia and Cornerstone Apostolic Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is survived by her brother Freddie Guerra, Uncle Luis and Aunt Olga Diaz, Aunt Norma Guerra, Uncle Felipe and Aunt Provi Guerra, many other extended family, and caregiver and sister-in-Christ Bernadette Powe. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfredo and Norys Guerra, and brother, William David Guerra. Funeral services will be held at Atlanta West Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, September 3 at 7pm with a visitation from 6pm to 7pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Atlanta West Pentecostal Church, 2960 Skyview Drive, Lithia Springs, GA 30122 or to Cornerstone Apostolic Church, 7548 Igou Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN, 37421. Services will also be held at Cornerstone Apostolic Church.
