Family-Placed Death Notice
DAVIS, Patricia Patricia Kunze Davis of Decatur died from complications of multiple myeloma on December 19, 2013, at the hospice of the Emory University Hospital. She was 67. Pat was born in Floral Park, N.Y., to John and Dorothy Kunze. She received a B.S.N. degree from Vanderbilt University
in 1969, and an M.S.N. from the University of Texas
at Austin in 1972. She was a member of the nursing honorary society, Sigma Theta Tau, and she taught collegiate nursing for several years. In 1979 she changed careers, earning a J.D. from Emory University School of Law, where she was a member of the Board of Editors of the Emory Law Journal. In 1970, she married Jefferson James Davis, and in 1979 they began a law firm in Decatur that operated for nearly 30 years. Pat also served on the Boards of Directors for the DeKalb Historical Society and for Hospice Atlanta. An active volunteer in the City Schools of Decatur, she was selected Volunteer of the Year both for Clairemont Elementary School and for the entire school system. She was a gifted cook and host, a voracious reader of literary fiction, and an enthusiastic conversationalist and storyteller. Pat is survived by her husband, sons Dr. Joshua Clark Davis and John Bowen Davis, and daughter Rosemary Katharine Davis. Other survivors are two sisters, Dr. Dolores Kunze of Boiling Springs, S.C., and Elizabeth Kunze (Casey Danielson) of Greenville, S.C.; brothers-in-law Dr. Jannar Davis (Sue) of Newnan and Lee Davis (Alice) of Marietta; and three nephews and a niece.
