BAIRSTOW, Rosina Rosina (Eenie) Hourigan Bairstow 1916 - 2013 In her 97 years, Eenie Bairstow never met a stranger. Those who were fortunate enough to know her were instantly charmed by her inherently sweet nature, her heartfelt kindness, her positive outlook on life and her genuine interest in conversation. Affectionately nick-named "Bama", Eenie was a devoted mother, grand-mother, and great-grandmother to a large and close-knit family which she nurtured and loved her entire life. Rosina (Eenie) Hourigan Bairstow died Wednesday, December 18th at her home in Buckhead. She is survived by four children; Betsy Bairstow Morse (Atlanta, Georgia) and husband Dan; Lael Bairstow Yudain (Arlington, Virginia); Robert Wright Bairstow, Jr. (Atlanta, Georgia) and wife, Mary; and Andrew Quinn Bairstow (Atlanta, Georgia) and wife Lowe; eleven grandchildren: Rutherford Seydel (Atlanta, Georgia) and wife Laura; Rosina Seydel (Atlanta, Georgia); Lael Seydel Ceravolo (Chicago, Illinois) and husband Nick; Scott O'Sullivan Seydel (Atlanta, Georgia) and wife Tess; Rachel Yudain Kuchinad (New York City) and husband Amar; Raymond Yudain (Los Angeles, California); Elizabeth Bairstow (Atlanta, Georgia); Robert Wright Bairstow, III (Atlanta, Georgia); Meaghan McCord (Atlanta, Georgia); Andrew Bairstow, Jr. (Atlanta, Georgia); Will Bairstow (Asheville, NC); Tommy Bairstow (Yosemite NP, California); and Thirteen great grandchildren: John R. Seydel (Atlanta, Georgia); Vassar Seydel (Atlanta, Georgia); Laura Elizabeth Seydel (Atlanta, Georgia); Catherine Terc (Atlanta, Georgia); Michele Terc (Atlanta, Georgia); Cole Ceravolo (Chicago, Illinois); John Ceravolo (Chicago, Illinois) and Rosina Elizabeth Ceravolo; Sullivan Seydel (Atlanta, Georgia); May Seydel (Atlanta, GA); Stella Seydel (Atlanta, Georgia); Owen Kuchinad (New York City); Lucas Kuchinad (New York City); Charlotte Kuchinad (New York City); and one sister: Mrs. John D. Burke (Betty) of Greenwich, Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her parents (Judge Andrew Hourigan and Marie Hourigan), husband of 67 years (Robert Wright Bairstow in December 2005), daughter (Rosina Seydel in December 1995); brothers: Andrew Hourigan, Jr. and James Hourigan; sisters: Mrs. Charles A. Powers (Coogie) of Vero Beach, Florida; Mrs. T. Edward Flanagan (Helen) of St. Louis, Missouri. Eenie graduated from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, Pennsylvania and received a B.A. from Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in New York City. She married Robert Wright Bairstow on August 2, 1941 and had 5 children. Eenie was an active member of the Cathedral of Christ the King since 1947: the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and Atlanta, Georgia; The University Yacht Club at Lake Lanier; The Sacred Heart Alumni Club and the Atlanta Garden Club. Early on, Eenie worked with her husband as they opened Bairstow Distributing Company in 1960. Eenie was an avid sports enthusiast, and held season tickets to Georgia Tech and University of Georgia
football, the Atlanta Braves baseball and the Masters Golf Tournament. She loved to travel and her journeys included trips to Spain (Congressional trip with daughter Lael); travel with husband Bob to France, Canada (celebrating 50th wedding anniversary); yearly sojourns to St. Maarten; and, travel to Russia for the Goodwill Games (with Lael, Rutherford and Laura Seydel). Eenie volunteered many places over the years including working with wounded veterans during World War II
and teaching art at the Atlanta Speech School as an Atlanta Junior League volunteer. Her favorite pastimes included cruising on Lake Lanier aboard the Eenie B and spending as much time as possible enjoying and loving her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Mass: January 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm, The Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30305. Burial (following funeral): Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt Vernon Highway NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosina Bairstow's name may be sent to one of her favorite charities, the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer, 760 Pollard Boulevard SW, Atlanta, GA 30315. The family wants to express special thanks to Mother's Nurses, Ann, Deborah, Ophelia, Jernese, Martha, her priest Father Richard Morrow and all the other people who took such loving and tender care of our Bama.
