Family-Placed Death Notice

Ruth Dalton Addison, 80, of Covington, died May 8, 2004. A Morgan County native, she was born August 3, 1923, to the late John and Isabelle Gilreath Dalton, and had been a Covington resident since July of 1954. She was previously employed for 12 years by the Georgia Department of Labor as a job interviewer, and was retired from the Newton County School System as a Teaching Assistant, having worked at Livingston Elementary School for 20 years. Mrs. Addison was a very active member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Otis Nixon Sunday School Class, was a vibrant and active member of the Salem Community, and was always involved in local politics. A loving wife and mother, her hobbies were her family, especially her grandchildren, and doing for others. Surviving are her husband, John A. Addison Sr. of Covington; son and daughter in law, John Jr. and Loveanne Addison of Clermont; grandchildren, Tyler Addison and Kyle Addison, brother and sister in law, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Dalton of Norman Park; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Addison will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 10, at Salem United Methodist Church, with remains placed in state at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Phil DeMore and Rev. Randy Kanipe will officiate, with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
