Family-Placed Death Notice

MARY HOLCOMBE MCKEE PHILLIPS Mary Holcombe McKee Phillips, age 90 died on August 3, 2004 at Tranquility Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Phillips was from Atlanta and the oldest child of Ruth Leila Baker Holcombe and Groover Cleveland Holcombe. She graduated from Commercial High. She was married to John Windsor (Duck) McKee who died in 1945, and then was married to John Thomas Phillips in 1949 until his death in 1987. She is survived by her step-son, John Thomas (Tom) Phillips, Jr., grandchildren, John Thomas Phillips, III and his wife Gilchrist from Augusta, GA; Susan Matthews and husband Ryan from Salida, CO; and three great-grandsons, sisters, Norma Carmichael and Dorothy Firor and her husband, Guy, sister-in-law, Eloise Phillips Orr as well as many nieces and nephews, their children and a sister, Ruth Barfield preceded her in death in 1976. She worked for the American Red Cross and Phillips-Browne Sign Company. She has been a member of Second Ponce-DeLeon Baptist Church since 1953 and a devoted member of the Pioneer Sunday School Class. A family Graveside Service will be held on August 9th at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery and a Memorial Service at Second-Ponce DeLeon Baptist Church Sanctuary at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Ponce-DeLeon Baptist Church, 2715 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30305. Funeral arrangements will be handled by H.M.
