Family-Placed Death Notice

CHISHOLM, Pauline Pauline "Polly" Mitchell Chisholm, 84 from Atlanta, Georgia died Monday, August 20, 2012 after a long decline in health. She was the youngest child of Margaret and Frank Mitchell and born in Thomasville, Georgia in 1928. Her sister Susan and brother Frank preceded her in death. Polly often talked about the fun she had growing up in Thomasville. She left in the late 1940's to attend University of Georgia where she got her degree in landscape architecture. In 1951 while spending a few days in Atlanta she went on a date with a Thomasville boy Timothy Barnard "Barney" Chisholm who was an instructor at Georgia Tech and they married later that year. They remained in Atlanta and raised their 4 children. Besides her family she was most proud of helping Vietnamese refugees acclimate their families into American life. Polly is preceded in death by her husband, sister, brother and one grandson, Jamie. She is survived by son Tim, wife Louise; son Frank, wife Sandra, daughter Sarah, husband Bruce, daughter Martha. Grandchildren, Padraic, Bram, Ruth, Christina and Landon. Great grandchildren, Sarah and Sophia. Graveside services will be on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Laurel Hill cemetery in Thomasville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Bearegard Street, Alexandra, VA 22311 would be greatly appreciated.
