Family-Placed Death Notice
GELLER, Janice Janice Grace Clack Geller, 70, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 after a long battle with lung cancer. Janice was the daughter of the late Mr. Erby Ralph Clack, Sr. and Jewell Grace Maughon. She was preceded in death by siblings, Lindy Clack, Ryman Clack, E. R. Clack, Jr., Dean Clack and Jack Clack. Janice was a graduate of Emory University, she received her Masters in Clinical Science at Rutgers University, taught Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York, Private practice in Ridgewood, N.J. Born Feb. 25, 1938, she was formerly of Auburn and moved to Raleigh, N.C., in 1996. Her husband of 33 years, Joseph J. Geller, M.D., predeceased her in October of 2006. Janice Geller was a pioneer in nursing as an advanced practice psychiatric clinical nurse specialist; working, teaching and publishing in both individual and group psychotherapy. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Geller Eiben, and husband George of Chapel Hill, N.C., as well as a large extended family in Georgia. Memorial services will be held at Smith Memory Chapel in Winder on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m, with visitation from NOON until the service at the funeral home. Memorial gifts can be directed to the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, CB #7295, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7295. Smith Funeral Home has charge of the service. 770-867-4553
