Jean Jester Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

JESTER, Jean Jean Bazemore Jester Lilburn . . . Jean Bazemore Jester of Lilburn, Georgia passed away on May 12, 2011, at the Altus House Hospice in Atlanta. Jean, the daughter of the late Robert Edward and Annie Laurie McCommon Bazemore of Forsyth, was married to the late Carroll G. Jester. She is survived by her son, Carroll G. "Sonny" Jester, Jr., her daughter in law, Laura Spencer Jester, their children, Annie Catherine and Carroll Elizabeth, all of Dunwoody, Georgia, as well as her son, Marcus Edward Jester, and his daughter, Courtney Nicole Jester, both of Lawrenceville, twin sister, Jane Bazemore Jossey and her husband Paul, of Forsyth and sisters-in-law, Marceline Bazemore and Dorothy Bazemore both of Forsyth. Jean was born in Monroe County, and graduated in 1952 from Mary Persons High School in Forsyth, Georgia. She attended Bessie Tift College. She was a bookkeeper, and lived in various cities in Georgia with her husband, who was with Atlanta Gas Light, and had a particular fondness for Savannah. Jean was an avid gardener, and loved birds, keeping a blue bird house in her yard to which a family of the birds returned every year. She was an accomplished artist, painting in oil, and was fond of cross stitching and puzzles of all kinds. In recent months, while battling the effects of heart disease, Jean has visited often with her extended family, and was often attended by her niece, Marjorie Singley-Hall of Atlanta, in addition to her immediate family. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel in Forsyth, Georgia. A grave-side service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Monroe Memorial Gardens, Ensign Road, Forsyth, Georgia. The Reverend Shannon Dill will officiate. The family suggests donations in Jean's memory to The Altus Hospice Foundation, 1 Dunwoody Park, Suite 120, Atlanta, GA 30338 (770)673-0011, or the American Heart Association, Post Office Box 840692, Dallas, Texas 75284.
