Family-Placed Death Notice

DONELSON, John GARY DONELSON John Garfield "Gary" Donelson passed away April 11, 2011 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. He was 75. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ellen; son, John, and daughter-in-law, Kathryn, of Moorseville, NC; daughter, Liz, of Ellicott City, MD; and grandchildren, John and Grace, of Moorseville, NC. Gary grew up in Jamestown, NY where he was Salutatorian of his class at Jamestown High School. He graduated from Amherst College where he played on the golf team and sang in the glee club. After a two-year stint in the Army, he enrolled at Harvard Business School where he graduated with honors as a Baker Scholar. His entire career was with Price Waterhouse Coopers, first in Pittsburgh, PA, where he became a partner, then in Cleveland, OH, and finally in Atlanta. After his retirement in 1987 he enjoyed playing golf at Dunwoody Country Club, trips to Edisto Beach, SC, crossword puzzles and reading. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Assistance League of Atlanta, 3534 Broad St, Chamblee, GA 30341. A memorial service will be held at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 at 3 o'clock on Friday, April 15, 2011 with visitation one hour prior to the service.
