I worked for your Dr. Barnett at Southern Tech back in the early '70s. He was one of the finest men I have ever known. Thought of him often over the years. So sorry for your loss but am so proud of his legacy. So sorry I did not find out in time for the service.

Sam was a man of high intellect, gentile manners, and selfless devotion to education. Working with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, he continued his interest in helping deserving students earn degrees through the scholarship/fellowship program. Sam was widely admired at INPO as an academic and even more as a person of character and good cheer. I extend my deepest sympathies to Sam's family and loved ones.

Sincerest sympathy and condolences to the family of a very fine man. Sam was a gracious Southern gentleman of keen intellect and knowledge, and highly regarded by all who knew him. I often heard from others how much Sam was admired and respected by everyone--especially students--during his years as a professor of nuclear engineering at Georgia Tech. After retiring from Tech, Sam continued his service to students and the industry at the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations where he developed and managed the ongoing National Academy Educational Assistance Program for the U.S. nuclear power industry. Who knows just how many lives were influenced by Dr. Sam Barnett? It was a privilege to know and work with Sam at INPO--I learned a lot from him--and was honored to call him friend. He will be missed.
