SOUTAR, Duncan Campbell Duncan Campbell Soutar, age 91, Lilburn died Sunday. After a long battle with pneumonia. Soutar was born in Saint Andrews Scotland in on February 14, 1925 to Melville and Jennie (Janet) Soutar. Soutar is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ruth Wassum Soutar of Lilburn; he is also survived by a stepdaughter, Janet Grizzle and husband Ray Grizzle; grandchildren, James and Monica Kimbler, Raymond and LeAnn Kimbler and Scott and Staci Kimbler; one great-granddaughter, Amber Kimbler; and two great-great grandchildren, Levi and Chloe Mays. Soutar migrated to the US when he was 14, and served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. For his service he was awarded US Citizenship. Soutar was a long time abrasives salesman for Carborundum Company. Throughout the 1950's and 60's Soutar was the band leader for The Bourbon Street Seven. Soutar was also an accomplished drummer and pianist and often served both as session drummer and producer for albums on the GHB and Jazzology label. From 1978-1985, Soutar was the host of the syndicated jazz radio program 'Red, Hot and Blue'. Heard in Atlanta, Richmond and several other media markets. The Graveside Service to Honor and Celebrate the life of Duncan Campbell Soutar will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM, Sweet Water Memorial Cemetery, Lawrenceville, GA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Tom M. Wages, Snellville Chapel.
