He was born on March 17, 1960, in Melbourne, Fla., and graduated from Georgia Tech with bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering. Jef was an engineer for many years before pursuring his life's real calling, which was artwork, especially illustrating the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, to whom Jef credited his conversion to Catholicism. Jef became an internationally known artist with works appearing in Amon Hen, Malhorn, Silver Leaves and the St. Austin Review. He also illustrated his wife's columns for The Georgia Bulletin, and wrote two books, "Seer: A Wizard's Journal" and "The Framerunners." He will be greatly missed by his wife, Lorraine; his mother, Lou Craig; his brother, R. Steven Murray, and partner, Scott Titshaw; aunt and uncle, Mary Anne and H. R. Lester Jr.; godchildren, Sarah and Stephen Mottram; sister-in-law Rosemary Goolsby; aunt, Rita Pope; nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Wayne Metcalf, Chrissy and Bill Edgar; Rick and Mindi Mende; cousins Julie and Charles Anderson, Donnie and Kathleen McKendree; John and Debbie Rosasco; cousins Raymond and Leah Anderson, Adam and Mindy Anderson, Rachelle and Aaron Anderson, Jason and Robyn Rosasco and Jaye and Rachel Bridwell, plus a herd of little cousins, and many friends at St. Thomas More and the Pitts Theology Library. A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Monsignor Richard Lopez at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, Ga., at 10:30 a.m. August 7. Visitation and Rosary are at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home at 6 p.m. August 6. The family requests donations to Birthright of Atlanta, Ga.

I'm just a reader of your writings, have admired your style for some time. The article on your sweetie's passing brought me to tears as I've gone thru that as well, 8 years today, and I am still here! Didn't think I would make it but I did, God is so gracious. I pray for you as you move thru the rest of your life without Jeff by your side, know that his spirit lives in your heart. I will be praying for you as I continue to pray for me because this thing called grief is piercing and painful and some days just hard to do anything except cry. God Bless you.
