Charles Holmes Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
HOLMES, Charles Charles Wexton Holmes, Major USMC Retired, age 68, of Gilbert, AZ, formerly of Conyers, died Friday, April 23, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Yancey Holmes and sister, Ernestine Holmes Black. Mr. Holmes is survived by daughters, Wynne R. Holmes, Gilbert, AZ and Wydale K. Holmes, Chandler, AZ; son-in-law, Dean Van Gorp, Chandler, AZ; granddaughter, Cooper Grace Van Gorp; nephews, Casey & Denise Black, Conyers, Keith Black, Conyers, Buck Black, Conyers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Scot Ward's Harry White Chapel at 4:00 p.m. with Chaplain Roger Pierce, USN Ret. officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to support Ovarian Cancer Research at TGEN Foundation in memory of Willie Mae Holmes at www.tgen.org. Wexton's Family,
So sorry to hear of Wexton's(I knew him by that name) death. His parents rented the space next to ours in Conyers so I knew him as a child. After he moved I lost contact, but saw him again at a multi-class reunion a few years ago and kept in touch through emails. He was a very kind and funny guy. He will definitely be missed.
