Dear Tory & family, I'm so sorry for your loss! Our Dads knew each other. My Dad, Howard Webb, built all the defensive equip, per your Dad, for the Falcons, when they 1st got the Falcons franchise. My Dad died in Jan'08, and would have been 92 on 4/20/08. Both of them were "one of a kind men". I don't believe they make them like that anymore! I believe we were lucky to have Dads like them! God bless you all!

I met Coach Herring in 1957 at an Auburn game. I was a recruit from UMS in Mobile and I spent most of the day after the game at His home. My uncle was a coach at Georgia at the time and Coach Herring communicated to Perron Shoemaker that I was a very nice visitor to his home. When my uncle told me he had a tear in his eye and I have remebered that conversation all of my life. My uncle was special having played in the Rose Bowl for Alabama. I later ran into Dr. Herring about 15 years ago in east Georgia and he remembered me, my uncle, the fact that I ended up at Alabama and my circumstances there. Hal was an amazing man and that seemingly small incident back at Auburn left me with a memory for life. I express my sympathy your family for Hal,s loss. He was a remarkable man.
