J. Dalton Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
DALTON, J. R. J. R. Dalton, age 93, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012. Mr. Dalton , a retired pilot for Delta Airlines was born March 15, 1919 in Toledo, OH and was a long time resident of East Point and Peachtree City, GA. His commercial flying career extended from civilian flight instructor on C.P.T., Army Air Corps Primary Flight School, to Delta Airlines Captain on Douglas DC-3 to Boeing 747 equipment for 30 years. He was also a member of the Airline Pilots Association, Delta Golden Wings and The Delta Pioneers. Mr. Dalton is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Hood Dalton; daughters, Carolyn Craig Lolley Joyner Robbins and Elizabeth Dalton Conn and son-in-laws, Stanley Lewis and Grady Jack Conn. Those left to cherish his memory include wife, Nancy Cheek Dalton; son, James Robert Dalton Jr.; daughter, Judy Dalton Lewis; step-daughters, Amelia, Betsy and Cathy; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services honoring Mr. Dalton's life will held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11 am in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home with Minister Clay Jacobs officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 5-8 pm. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, GA.

Capt. Jim Dalton was a man who became an instant "close" friend when first met. I enjoyed every flight and every other meeting with him.
I shall always miss Jim's permanent smile, kindness, and quiet humor.

Nancy and extended Family,
As a former officer of Delta Golden Wings, Inc., the social organization of both active and retired Delta pilots, I send condolences on behalf of our members for Jim's passing.
We are thankful for your memberships over the years, but more appreciative of Jim's time given to the organization in past years. He was a delightful gentlemen and his presence among us will be missed.
May your faith and God's presence in your lives sustain the needs presented by his passing. We wish each of you the best on your future pathways.

The first Captain I flew with at Delta. In my eyes a great man and excellent pilot. His kind do not come along often, we shall miss him.
