Family-Placed Death Notice
MATTHEWS, James Mr. James Ronald Matthews age 67 of Marietta, passed away Tuesday, December 10th. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, December 13th at Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel in Smyrna with Donnie Edwards officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Marietta. Ron worked for Weaver Brake and Tire Company in Marietta, GA for the last ten years. He will be remembered as a loving grandfather, a calm, gentle example as a father and a faithful, loving husband. Friends and family could always count on Ron to bring a smile to their face. He is deeply mourned by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father James Starr Matthews. Surviving are: Wife - Jackie Matthews of Marietta, Son - Andy (Kathy) Matthews of Atlanta, Daughter - Amy (John) Suggs of Powder Springs, Mother - Montez Delores Barnes, Brother - Richard (Linda) Matthews of Marietta, several nieces and nephews. He was also known as "Pops" to his grandchildren, Emery and John Matthew Suggs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, December 12th at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna (770) 435-4467 www.carmichaelfuneralhomes.com
