Family-Placed Death Notice

AIKENS, Allen Timm Allen Timm Aikens, 95, passed away April 16, 2013 and was the son of Charles Harold Aikens and Julia Allen Timm. He was born December 16, 1917 in Augusta, Ga. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sarah (nee Camp); daughters Carla (Steve) Barnes and Perrin (Jake) Davis; son, Raymond Francis; granddaughters Whitney (Jens Uwe) and Denai Knox; grandson Reed Jackson Davis; and sisters Corinna Barker and Nancy (Foy) Hand. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles. Timm was an incredibly devoted family man who knew the value of a handshake and of a hard day's labor. He had a wicked sense of humor and knew his way around a batch of collard greens. He was kind and generous with his time and transferred his skill with tools to fix what was broken and improve what wasn't in houses all over Atlanta. Timm was a keen observer of the markets and supermarkets alike, and a learned expert at when was the exact right time to replace the Braves' pitcher. A lifetime Georgian, Timm bravely served his country in the Pacific during World War II just as he always served his family. He had a long career in construction which culminated in the founding of his own business, UIRC Contracting. Following the birth of his youngest child, he retired from his career but by no means stopped working. Timm's sense of honor will follow him as he leaves this world. He was dearly loved and will be missed every day by those who knew him. A memorial gathering will be held at the Palms at Lake Spivey on Saturday, April 20 at 10:00am.
