As a young female police officer in DeKalb County,it was a pleasure to have Judge Workman as a local Judge. In my experience with her, she always gave law enforcement the benefit of the doubt and was on the side of true justice.

To the Family of Anne Workman
The extremely sad news of Anne's death is something that I can still hardly believe. It is impossible to put into words how I feel, words fail at a time like this. Anne was such a wonderful friend to my late husband (Aaron) and me. She will be long remembred by many. Anne had a rare warmth of personality and beauty of character that left a lasting impression upon all who met her and her legacy will live on forever. May you feel God's comforting presence during your struggle through the grief and sadness. With heartfelt sympathy my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I best remember Judge Workman from my days as a fugitive investigator with the Sheriff's Department. She was a kind, thoughtful and dedicated public servant who showed genuine concern not only for the public welfare, but also for those in law enforcement who so often attended her court. Dekalb County was blessed to have her.

I feel unequipped to adequately share my sentiments. Judge Workman was an unusually insightful, fair, and thougtful Justice. She lent honor to the Bench and it was a privilege to have been able to appear before her - and to have been appointed by her to represent the interets of children who were at interest in the cases over which she presided. I pray that she passed peacefully and trust that her incredible legacy will survive the loss of such a remarkable woman.

It is with a heavy heart that I grieve the loss of Anne. As our lives were brought together under a unique situation, it is the perfection of the Universe that allowed us to develop a trusting, loving, caring, friendship, and for that I am very grateful. The blessing she gave me to care for her home, animals, and personal affairs, will carry my heart to a place of peace. A peace knowing her physical body is no longer suffering and her Soul has transitioned to the All of Everything. It feels easier to believe that she was never happier, nor more joyful, than the moment of her transition from this physical life, when brought together in the Spirit world with God. It is with that faith and larger awareness that allows me the freedom to celebrate in the fullness of her Life and Life Eternal.
Thank you Anne for being a bright blessing.

Please accept my condolences on your loss of a truly unique person. I appeared before Judge Workman at least twice a month from the time she took her seat on the Superior Court bench, as I was assigned to her Division. I have many memories of her that will stay with me forever. Her dry sense of humor was often a relief in the legal world. When ever I think of her, a superlative always comes to mind. She was gifted and talented in so many ways, and was such a hard working jurist. The world was a better place because of her. I am sorry that she was not able to enjoy her much deserved retirement longer. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

With saddness I extend my deepest heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Anne was a friend of my late (d.1983) sister Norma Jean Bootie Wall in their early years in Woodruff, SC and in Atlanta when at Emory and working in Dekalb County. They shared a quick wit, the joy of laughter, sense of fairness, compassion for people and animals. Anne's remarkable career is testament to her keen intellect, great character, wisdom and integrity. May it comfort you all to know her friends past and present share your loss and will be praying for you in this difficult time. I can hear them laughing and sharing. It was so infectious! May your memories make you smile even with the heartache. God Bless you.

My family and I extend our deep condolences to the Workman family for the loss of our great friend, mentor, occasional caregiver, and, in my husband's case, fellow student at Duke and Emory Law School. Anne cared for me in my darkest days like a lioness with an injured cub, and I was privileged to help in small ways these last few weeks. Our family treasured our time with her and we mourn her loss.
