Family-Placed Death Notice

Charles "Dick" Burge, 80, passed away peacefully after a a long illness at his home in Blackshear, GA on Saturday Oct. 28, 2006. He was past owner and operator of Owens Mini Storage and Mack Truck Parts. Mr. Burge was a 20 year U.S. Navy Retiree, 32nd Degree Mason, Member of Fleet Reserve Association and American Legion Member. He also set-up Ham Station in Canal Zone for U.S. Navy. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorris Adams Burge, father, Claude Burge and one brother, James Burge all of Atlanta, GA and nephew, Tommy Burge. He is survived by Marjorie M. Burge, two daughters, Shirley Cole and Phyllis Davenport, both of Jacksonville, FL, six grandchildren, Lewis Perkins, Sherri Cape, Mark Perkins, Joseph Davenport, Steven and Mark Cole, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, two nephews Jerry and Jimmy Burge, several cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon (Nov. 4, 2006) at Parkway Garden Chapel in Forest Park, GA at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 pm at the Parkway Garden Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Satilla, 317 Plant Ave., Waycross, GA 31501.
