CREIGHTON, Dolly Austin Aug. 1, 1921 Nov. 24, 2016 Mildred Born "Dolly" Austin Creighton, 95, of Johns Creek died on Thursday, the 24th of November 2016. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, she graduated with honors from Webster College (now known as Webster University) in 1943. After graduation, she served her internship in dietetics at Montefiore Hospital in New York City. As a member of the American Dietetic Association, she held positions at Montefiore Hospital and New York Hospital prior to moving to Memphis, Tennessee where she joined the faculty of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Upon moving to Atlanta, she established Austin Dietary Consultants, providing services to small hospitals, nursing homes, and the Diabetes Association of Atlanta. Dolly also taught diabetes and nutrition courses all over the Atlanta metropolitan area for 25 years. She was on the staff of Northside Hospital for twelve years prior to retirement. Dolly enjoyed worldwide travels, gardening, dancing, working with stained glass and ceramics. Besides all 50 states in the U. S., her travels included Russia, China, India, Australia, New Zealand, Micronesia, South America, almost all of Europe and the British Isles. At the age of 60, she joined the Solid Silver Dancers. She was an active member of the Young at Heart Group at St. Benedict's Church and the Over 55 Club at St. Andrew's Church. She was preceded in death by her husband's Air Force Colonel, Vernon F. Creighton and Ben Ragan Austin; grandson, Scott; brother, G. Thomas Born, Jr.; and niece, Mary Evelyn. Dolly is survived by her daughter, Dianna Austin Scherer and her husband, Carl of Norcross, GA; her 3 sons, Dr. Gordon T. Austin and wife, Meredith of Carrolton, GA, Roger Born Austin and wife, Christine of Louisville, KY, and Craig A. Austin and wife, Anne of Suwanee, GA. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren (who called her Grandolly, which soon became her nickname to family and friends of all ages) grandsons, Geary, Paul, Andrew, and William; granddaughters, Stephanie, Lindsey, Sarah, Courtney, and Katherine; a sister, Evelyn Born Puleo and husband, Peter of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law, Nancy Born of Omaha, NE; nieces, Laura, Anna Rose, and Lynne, and nephews, Peter Jr., and Steve. Dolly is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Ella Rose, Hannah Kate, Carter, and Hudson. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, the 30th of November at eleven o'clock in the morning at Saint Brigid Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at four o'clock in the afternoon at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer Home, or the . Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family Tuesday from seven until nine o'clock in the evening with the Holy Rosary being recited at eight o'clock at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
