Family-Placed Death Notice

STANFIELD, Guy Guy Harris Stanfield, age 89 of Gainesville, FL passed away on Tuesday October 20, 2009 in Gainesville, FL. He was born in East Point, GA. on January 18, 1920 to parents Jesse T. and Nevie Stanfield. Guy attended school in East Point and served in the U.S. Army Aircorps during WWII. After the war he worked for the Central Georgia Railroad and retired from Southern Railway. He was a member of Civitan International, having served as president of that club, he was the past commander of VFW Post #7007, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Bramblett Stanfield, and his brothers Huie Stanfield and Andrew Stanfield. He is survived by his daughter Constance Stanfield Keeton of Gainesville and his grandson Matthew Farcosky of Baltimore, MD. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday October 23, 2009 at the St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 4315 NW 23rd Avenue, Gainesville, FL. Burial will be in his beloved Georgia at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
