Family-Placed Death Notice
Jeffrey L. Gould (1943-2005), dedicated his life to the people around him; at the hospital where he worked, the patients in his care; at home, his wife, children and grandchildren. He enriched lives he touched by giving so much of himself to them. Born in Chicago, Illinois, raised in Birmingham, Alabama, son of an orphaned father and immigrant mother, he developed a love for medicine at an early age, and through the force of his own will, shaped his life to accommodate it. He graduated in three years and put himself through medical school. He served his country as a doctor in the Navy. He began practicing medicine privately in Pensacola, Florida where he surrounded himself with lifelong friends and began to raise his family. He moved himself and his family to Atlanta, Georgia where he started a practice that continues to thrive successfully today. He retired last January, and spent his last, and possibly happiest days living in Paris with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Gould; his sons, Marc (wife, Susan), Mitchell, Jeremy and Grahame Gould. His grandchildren, Brianna, Olivia, Rosemary and Cyrus; his father-in-law, Charles Meachum; his uncle, Bill Meachum; his brother-in-law, Howard Meachum; his colleagues, loving friends and relatives. Everyone who survives him has benefited from his presence in their live's, and that presence will be sorely missed. The Right Reverend Charles Morley, Rector, St. Francis at the Point will conduct services at his home at Point clear on Mobile Bay at sunset. Arrangements by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home and Crematory, 329 S. Greeno Rd., Fair Hope, AL.
