JESSE CLIFFORD WOODWARD III Jesse Clifford Woodward, III, 52, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died Monday, August 22, 2005 in Hendersonville, NC following a sudden illness. He was the son of Jesse C. Woodward, Jr. and Marion Abbott Woodward. His lifelong service to his community included 27 years of dedication service to BellSouth Telecom as a Manager and Engineering Specialist, 23 years as Deacon of Brookhaven Christian Church and four years to the Junior Achievement and United Way organizations."J.C." or "Chip" as friends and family called him, loved the Boy Scouts. His fifteen years of leadership to the Boy Scouts of America include nine years as Scout Master of Troop 555 and six years as Unit Commissioner as well as serving as National Jamboree Staff for three years. He was an Eagle Scout. Because he believed so strongly in the positive impact that BSA has on the lives of boys and young men, he served in the BSA long after his son earned the Eagle Scout award. He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Julia Lynne "Crocker" Woodward; his children, Jessica Abbott Woodward "Abby", Jesse Clifford Woodward IV "Jess"; two grandsons, Alex Jordan Woodward "AJ" and Joshua Crawford Woodward "Josh"; a brother, Victor Wells Woodward "Vic" and a sister Catherine W. Phelps "Cathie" and her children Richard Peck and Scott W. Peck. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 27th at Brookhaven Christian Church, 4500 Peachtree Road NE in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Boy Scouts of America as follows: Memorial Campership Fund for J.C. Woodward III, Daniel Boone Council, BSA P.O. Box 7626.
