Judith Lentini Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

LENTINI, Judith K. JUDITH KAYE LENTINI Judith Kaye Lentini, 58, died on July 28 after a protracted battle with lung cancer. A resident of No Name Key, Florida since 2005, Judy grew up in Greenwich, CT. She was the second oldest in a family of nine children. A graduate of Greenwich High School and New College in Sarasota Florida, she earned a master's degree in cell biology from the University of Connecticut. Her husband of 31 years knew it was love at first sight when they met in college. They were both from New England families of nine children in which everyone's name began with the letter "J." She actively participated in the furtherance of her husband's career as a forensic scientist. Judy raised two wonderful children in Marietta, Georgia. She served as PTA President at Brumby Elementary School and East Cobb Middle School. A long-time advocate of literacy for children, Judy worked with local bookstores to ensure that every kindergarten child had a book of his or her own. Judy's infinite compassion for humanity manifested itself through her incredible ability to make everyone feel like they had known her for years. Whether chatting with someone in line at the grocery store or opening her home to the friends of her children, everyone that ever met Judy loved her. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Miriam Kaye of Greenwich, she is survived by her husband of 31 years, John Lentini of No Name Key, FL, her daughter, Julia Lentini and her wife, Heather, of South Windsor, CT, her son Jerald Lentini and his wife Lauren of Silver Spring, MD, her siblings, Janet Kaye (Dan Kushel) of Buffalo, NY, Joel Kaye (Kimberly McKeever-Kaye) and Jeremy Kaye (Lucille), of Greenwich, CT Jessica Kaye (Richard Brewer) of Los Angeles, CA, Jocelyn Comendul (Andrew) of Danbury, NH, Jevera Hennessey (William) of Stamford, CT, Justine Kaye (Justin King) of Los Angeles, CA, Johanna Greenfield (Jeff) of Newington, CT and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. In addition to her natural relatives, Judy "adopted" several children along the way, most notably, Amanda Schuler Starr of Marietta, GA. Friends and family will celebrate Judy's life in the way she demanded: with the Beatles, blue jeans, and a party to be held in Key West on Saturday July 31. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the website that has kept friends and family in touch through her illness at www.caringbridge. org/visit/JudyLentini or to Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids.

Strong and smart, funny and warm with a touch of wack-a-doodle thrown in, Judy was a force of nature. She accepted us with open arms and made us feel so comfortable at the Banyan for over 15 years. We"re so sad. We looked forward to August when again we would come to No Name to see Judy. We loved the visit evry year, the time spent at the house with Judy & Jay (and Julia too), the food and company at No Name Pub. We'll certainly miss it this year and for always. Jay, Julia and Jerald, we're so sorry for the loss you have suffered. Judy was one in a million . A little girl at heart who's going to leave a big hole in your lives.....Jan and Pat

Judy Lentini, an Icon.
As a child, I looked up to her as a Mother figure. When times were tough...When she was taking on "overload work" @ ATS...
She was super witty, uber brilliant, strong and real. She was a superior female role model. A truly remarkable lady, indeed.
My blessings to her family. And now, peace to her.
Judy, you touched many and you made a difference.

Jay, Julia and Jerald,
So sorry to hear of your loss. Judy was a wonderful one of a kind person. Everyone who knew her loved her and admired her. She will be forever in our hearts. Bless you all.

Please know that your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Although we did not know Judy well, we found her to be a delightful person.....humorous, sincere and she met you like a "long lost friend." Her tribute paid homage to a remarkable woman who will be sorely missed, but her memory WILL live on in the hearts of the many who so obviously love her. Praying for strength and comfort in the days ahead.
