Family-Placed Death Notice

ALLERUP, Kenneth Kenneth Allerup, age 92, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on December 10, 2013. Mr. Allerup was born in Chicago, IL to Niels and Alice Allerup who preceded him in death, as did a brother Norman. Mr. Allerup is survived by his beloved wife Helga Allerup and a brother Peter, as well as his step children Claudia Sleep and Barbel Woodard, four grandsons and five great grandchildren. Mr. Allerup was a veteran of World War II and served as a Naval Aviator. Following the war, he remained in the Naval Reserve as an active member and retired from the Navy as a Commander. Mr. Allerup was an international airline pilot for Delta Airlines. He retired in 1981, having served over 30 years as a Captain. He loved his job very much and missed it throughout his retirement years. After his retirement, he and his wife Helga traveled the world. They enjoyed numerous cruises to destinations such as Australia, Singapore, the Panama Canal and many more. Mr. Allerup was always ready to seek out a new adventure. He will be terribly missed. Services and interment will be private.

Kenny's affable personality made him a joy to be around. As mentioned by many others here, he was a professional many tried to emulate. His return after retirement to interview new pilot applicants speaks volumes about him.
