Family-Placed Death Notice
Laura Robin Agin, a devoted wife, loving sister and aunt, and caring daughter, passed away Friday, September 1, 2006 after a long brave battle against ALS. She was 42. She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Jonathan, brother David Denholtz, father Carl Denholtz, father-in-law Rabbi Solomon Agin, mother-in-law Arline Agin, sisters in-law Rhonda Johnson-Denholtz, Lori Agin Liss and Mindy Agin Naimin, brothers in-law David Liss and Eric Naiman, aunt and uncle Melanie and Harris Amhowitz, and nephews and nieces Louis, Jacob and Sarah Naiman, Jonah and Leah Liss, Emma and Sam Denholtz. Laura also leaves behind many loyal and long time friends who were inspired by her passion and love for life. Laura was born to Carl and the late Betty Denholtz on August 17, 1964 in Riverhead New York. The family moved to Ft. Myers, Florida when Laura was a young child. An outgoing and athletic girl, Laura lettered in swimming at Cypress Lake High School, and was a Junior Olympic medalist in swimming. She graduated from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts and married her husband Jonathan on September 12, 1992. The couple lived in Greensboro, North Carolina prior to settling in Marietta in 1999, where they cultivated a unique bird sanctuary that attracts many species of birds. Laura was an ardent folk art collector and a long-time rider in the Chastain Horse Park's Therapeutic Riding Program. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 3 at 1 p.m. at Patterson's Arlington Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A burial ceremony will be held on Monday, September 4, 2006 in Ft. Myers, FL at the Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33907. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to " Chastain Horse Park " with a memo to dedicate the funds to the LRA Hippotherapy Fund. Please send to 4371 Powers Ferry Road, Atlanta , GA 30327.
