Family-Placed Death Notice

HOPKINS, Lionel Lionel G. Hopkins passed away April 7, 2013 at the age of 80 in his home with his loving family around him. Lionel was born in San Antonio, Texas and grew up in Dallas. Graduating Suma Cum Laude from the University of Texas as a mechanical engineer, he worked in the computer industry. He and his wife, Joy, settled in Gainesville, Ga to be near his children. He was a member of Mensa and in his later years became a talented painter of seascapes, enjoined cooking for family and friends and dearly loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joy Hopkins, and his children, Laura Hopkins, Sharon Hopkins and her husband Dean Casey, and Walter Hopkins and his wife Peri Hopkins.Those desiring may make donations to the Humane Society of Gainseville at 845 Ridge Rd, Gainesville, GA.
