Family-Placed Death Notice
MOODY, Maggie MRS. MAGGIE L. MOODY Mrs. Maggie L. Moody passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011. Mrs. Moody is best known as an advocate for poor children, especially those receiving federal funds. She was often seen presenting her concerns and those of the community at the Atlanta Board of Education meetings. She also worked with voter registration, NAACP, the board of legal Aid for over 20 years and assisted with many other issues related to civil and human rights. She was rewarded for her contribution in 1972 when the Delta Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority named her Bronze Woman of the Year. Through the years she received many awards for her community service. She worked for the Atlanta Public School System as a Para professional primarily at Booker T. Washington High School where she graduated from in the class of 1937. Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Moody will be held Friday, December 16, 2011 at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 498 English Ave. NW. Rev. Willie Bolton, officiating and Eulogist. Instate 10 AM. Interment Lincoln Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assembly at the church at 10:30 AM on the day of service. She is survived by her children, Gary Lockhart and Dr. Barbara L. Robinson; grandchildren, Jada Williams (Marvon), Eric Moody, Sonya Moody, Richard Moody III, Dexter Moody, Chike Moody and Melvin Johnson; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
