Melba Elliott CRIDER Obituary
CRIDER, Melba Elliott Melba Elliott Crider, 80, of Powder Springs, GA, died Saturday, October 29th, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 31st at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Powder Springs, and will lie in state at 1:00 PM with Rev. Mike Woods and Rev. Lamar Rackley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Melba was a lifelong resident of Powder Springs, Georgia whose faith became sight with loving family by her side. Melba was a devoted wife to Tommy Crider for 61 years and a nurturing mother who was very supportive of her six children. She spent her life as a busy homemaker until her children were grown, at which time she went to work with the Cobb County School System. Melba never had a driver's license, but was an accomplished co-pilot. She was active in her community and church, and served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Melba enjoyed flowers and bird watching from her rocking chair, and tending to the garden with skills she learned as a small child working with her parents on the family farm. Her love in life was her family and she will be loved and remembered by all. Survivors include her children, Chuck (Wanda), Rick (Carol), Steve (Cathy), Stephanie (Tim), Randy (Cherie); brother, Bobby Elliott (Robin); seventeen grandchildren; twenty four great-granchildren; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Tommy Crider, and daughter Connie Vick. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM 7:00 PM on Sunday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home & Crematory in Powder Springs. www.mayeswarddobbins.com (770)943-1511.
