Ron was a good man. He was always interested in others. He was a great friend to my husband, John Wayne Mower, who was killed in Vietnam. He was a friend to me also. He was caring and thoughtful in our phone conversations. Ron planned to come to Fort Worth so we could meet and talk about our memories of John. I wish that could of happened.

Ron was my next door neighbor in Summerville, S. Carolina. My husband (John Mower) and Ron were close friends. They both were stationed at Charleston Air Force Base before leaving for Vietnam. I remember Ron as being kind, thoughtful and especially caring when John was shot down. We stayed in contact through the years. He had many nice things to say about John.
Ron will always be remembered and loved.

Ron Was a good man, and I especially enjoyed his love of flying. He always inspired me to do good things. I'm only a ten year old though, And I always went to his airport. He was a really nice guy.

The absolute high point of Ron's life is well summarized in the EAA VINTAGE airplane magazine pg. 16: "Somewhere along the way, aviation, and much of the world, decided safety was better than freedom; security was better than living. The day that memo was released Ron was out flying some old plane. He never got it. Moreover, I believe that may very well be what I believe to be his high point." An absolute proof by example that freedom to do what you want always reigns over safety.

Please accept my condolences for your loss. King Solomon concluded "that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and do good during their life, also that everyone should eat, drink and find enjoyment for all his hard work. I met Ron in 2008 when I came to Griffin to train and get type rated in his DC-3. HIs selflessness and gentle kindness awed me. He was truly a gentleman's, gentleman. I've been back every other year since to fly, tour his museum, attend fund raisers and dine in his fabulous Barnstormer's restaurant. While he may be gone in body, his legacy will live on eternally through his generosity, mentoring of youth and many contributions to aviation.
