Family-Placed Death Notice

HAMMOCK, Ruth RUTH POUNDS HAMMOCK Ruth Pounds Hammock, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away Friday morning April 29, 2011 at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home at the age of 93. Ruth (Booty) was born February 23, 1918 in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of Carlos (Shug) and Sally Pounds. She was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Hammock Jr., her parents, grandson Scott Hallman, brothers Carlos and Jim Pounds and sister Evelyn Pounds Mobley. Survivors include her daughters; Dana (Don) Hallman, Smyrna, Georgia and Toni H. Carawan, Stockbridge, Georgia. Grandchildren; Patrick (Erin) Hallman, Dallas, Georgia, Tyler Carawan, Denver, Colorado, Matthew (Jennifer) Carawan Eatonton, Georgia and Lori Hallman, Smyrna, Georgia. Great Granchildren; Victoria Hallman, Walker Carawan, Tatem Hallman, Gavin Carawan, Declan Hallman, and Maddie Carawan. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Ruth has donated her body to Emory School of Medicine. No memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
