Sharon BARNETTE Obituary
BARNETTE (Crawford), Sharon D. Sharon D. (Crawford) Barnette, born September 26, 1943 in Auburn, CA and died October 4, 2016 in Marietta, GA. She is survived by her husband, Jack Barnette and her sister Charlotte Lints in Lincoln, CA. Sharon grew up in Lincoln, CA, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1961. She then entered San Francisco State College. Sharon spent all of her adult life as a Catholic, taking mass at various churches in Lincoln and Palo Alto, CA as well as Marietta, GA. Sharon was a remarkable woman both in private life and in business. After a short stint as a cosmetologist, she entered the hotel industry with Hyatt Hotels in Palo Alto. This was the first of two very successful but quite different careers. Starting at entry level in 1967, she rose from "Front Desk" though "Reservations" and "Catering" to become the manager of both the famous Hyatt Rickey's and the Hyatt Palo Alto where she was working when she and Jack met in 1984. Along the way she was honored by Hyatt with an "outstanding employee" award. Sharon and Jack married in mid-1985, and Sharon decided to leave the hotel business and move to Marietta, GA with Jack. In 1986, she decided to start her 2nd career by entering Real Estate. After only a little over one year, Sharon received the first of 17 consecutive Million Dollar Council Honors by the Board of Realtors. In that same period, she added two additional awards as a Top Ten Transactions Leader, an award as Top Ten Sales Leader, and an honor given by her peers for having "outstanding attributes of professionalism and company spirit" which she especially cherished. Typical of Sharon, though all the years of her two careers, she maintained her cosmetology license just in case she should ever need it. All who knew Sharon know of her love for football, especially Stanford Cardinals, and San Francisco 49er's football. This was rooted in an amazing task she undertook while at Hyatt. She decided that she could fill up the many empty rooms in her hotel on weekends is she could get the teams that came in to play Stanford or the 49er's to stay in her hotel. Because of her "bigger than life" personality, learning what the teams needed, and having it when they needed it, she was a roaring success. And, along the way, she made lifelong friends of coaches, scouts, and players. The same was true for her clients in Real Estate. In fact, she made friends of almost everyone who passed through her life, and she maintained those friendships over the years with care, love, phone calls, and cards. For that, those friends loved her back. As she took on less real estate work in the last decade, she applied her talents to her community, hosting Fourth of July celebrations, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and used any family or neighbors birthday as an excuse to have a gathering of friends. For those of you that loved her know that your love was her greatest "delight" in life. It made her so very happy when her love was returned. She told stories over the years about many of you, her friends. When she did, that "delight" always showed in the expression on her beautiful face and that dazzling smile she was always quick to give. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill, 1157 Old Canton Rd. Marietta, GA 20068. A tailgate party will follow from 2:00 until 4:00 PM and continue the wonderful spirit of Sharon and her love of her favorite teams. Please join us and wear your favorite team apparel.
