MONTGOMERY, Sherman Mr. Sherman Wayne Montgomery 59, 1720 Annette Court, Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2008. He was born in Rome, Georgia on December 13, 1948 the eldest son of Sherman and Ruby Montgomery. Sherman Wayne was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. Sherman Wayne moved to Atlanta with his family where he worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 36 years. He retired in 2003. Sherman Wayne leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 40 years: Mrs. Mamie Ransom Montgomery of Lithia Springs, Ga., one daughter, Tonie D. Montgomery of Douglasville, Ga.; one son, Gabriel M. Montgomery and his wife Kimmia, of Powder Springs, Ga., two grandsons, Justin and Jordan Montgomery, his parents Sherman and Ruby Montgomery of Fairburn, Ga.; his father-in-law John Ransom Sr. of Rome, Ga.; two brothers and three sisters: Sandra Brooks (Philmore) of Austell, Ga.; Robert Montgomery (Emma) of Grayson, Ga., Rhonda Martin (Robert) of Fayetteville, Ga., Eric Montgomery (Ruby) of Lilburn, Ga., Leslie DeVaughn of Fairburn, Ga., and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 7, 2008 at Flatrock Baptist Church 848 Cunningham Rd., Rome, Ga., with the Rev. Robert Montgomery and other ministers officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12 pm until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Free Liberty Cemetery. The family will be at the residence of Mr. John Ransom, 238 Pennington Ave. Wright Memorial Mortuary,Inc. has charge of the funeral arrangements. 706-235-0642
