Family-Placed Death Notice

VICKY CARROLL BECKLEY Vicky Carroll Beckley, age 83, passed away on January 28, 2007, after a life of service to her Savior Jesus Christ. Mrs. Beckley was born April 27, 1923, in Barnwell County, SC, to Starling and Annie Mae Carroll. She graduated from Williston-Elko High School in Williston, SC, and attended Columbia Bible College in Columbia, SC from 1941-1942. She moved with her family to Smyrna, Ga. in 1950; then in 1975 the family moved again to Clarksville, Indiana, and again in 1980 to Jacksonville, FL. She lived in Jacksonville until her death, and was an active member of Silver Glyn Baptist Church. Mrs. Beckley worked as a secretary at Durham Life Insurance Company in Columbia, SC and as a secretary to the purchasing agent at Gold Kist in Atlanta, GA. In Jacksonville, she worked at Charter Life Insurance Company and then at George Washington Life Insurance Company, retiring from that company in 1986. Mrs. Beckley was active in several Southern Baptist churches in South Carolina, Georgia, Indiana, and Jacksonville. She worked as a Sunday School teacher and as a WMU worker and Director; she also spent much time with young people in Bible Drill work, as Vacation Bible School principal, and as a VBS teacher. Mrs Beckley is survived by her husband, Warren J. Beckley, and by 7 children and 16 grandchildren: Dorothy Beckley Doughty in Stone Mountain, GA; Alan Beckley in Suwanee, GA; Clyde Beckley in Lilburn, GA; Rhoda Beckley Wolfe in Clarksville, Indiana; Gary Beckley in Clarksville, IN; Karen Beckley McDonald in Jacksonville, FL; and Sandra Beckley Lee in Greensboro, NC. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Carroll White of Columbia, SC. Funeral services and interment will be at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, in Smyrna, GA on Thursday, February 1st at 2:00 pm with Dr. Marcus Bramblett officiating. An additional memorial service will be held at a later date in Jacksonville, FL at Silver Glyn Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida (4266 Sunbeam Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32257) Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements. 770-432-0771
