W. Marshall BRITTAIN Obituary
BRITTAIN, W. Marshall Marshall Brittain, age 90, died at his home in Stone Mountain, Georgia on October 26, 2016. Marshall was born January 1, 1926 in Greensboro, NC. He graduated from Greensboro High School and received a trombone scholarship to attend The Bolles School in Jacksonville, FL. After graduating from Bolles, Marshall attended Virginia Military Institute, graduating in 1949, after serving 2 years in the Army Air Corp. He subsequently earned Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering (Georgia Tech) and Engineering Management (Rollins College). Marshall worked his entire career for Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Buffalo, NY, Pittsburgh, PA, and Orlando, FL. Upon retiring, he and his wife, Anita, moved to Atlanta, where for several years he sang with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, under the direction of Robert Shaw. Marshall was a kind and charming gentleman, with a passion for music, education, travel, roses, and his family: his wife of 65 years, Anita; his children, Jeb, Lynn and Carol; their spouses Beverly, Dave, and Vic; his grandchildren, Tyffany (Mark), Justin, Tyler (Sara), Emma, Coleman (Caroline), Jordan, and Maddie; and his great-granddaughter Kiersten. Donations in Marshall's memory may be made to Camp Sunshine, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, or VMI.
