William Allen "Bill" ANGLIN Jr. Obituary
ANGLIN, Jr., William Allen May 28, 1933 Oct. 24, 2016 William "Bill" Anglin, 83, of Buford went home to be with our Lord on October 24, 2016 following an extended illness. He was born in Buford, GA, the son of William Allen, Sr. and Bessie Jordan Anglin. Growing up in the local community, he lived in a racially mixed neighborhood in which black people outnumbered the whites. He would jokingly say that he didn't know he was white until he was much older. Before he graduated from Buford High School in 1951, you would've seen young Bill riding a bicycle around Buford dropping off prescription medicines for Chief Garner, owner of Garner's Drug Store. Chief Garner mentored him through college where Bill graduated summa cum laude as valedictorian of his class from Southern College of Georgia's School of Pharmacy. After purchasing the pharmacy from Chief Garner's widow, Florence, he changed the name to Anglin's Drug Store. It was the only place that he would ever work in his 70+ year career. He became a pioneer of downtown Buford and an example of how many lives can be changed when one human being takes an interest in others. During his pharmacy apprenticeship, 14-year-old Bill noticed a 12-year-old girl working at the dime store across the street. She would later become his wife Iris. "It was immediate," he said. "She was the only girl I ever dated. It was providence," he said. They were married for 60 years, and God blessed them with two sons. Bill's faith in God was important from an early age as a member of Buford First United Methodist Church. Later in life, he and Iris joined New Bethany Baptist Church, the home church of her mother's family. Bill was a loving son, husband, and father. Surviving family members include his son, Randy Anglin of Buford GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Sandra Anglin of Lawrenceville GA; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Bobbie June Hubbard of Cumming GA; and sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Anglin of Buford, GA. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Allen, Sr. and Bessie Jordan Anglin; wife, Iris Hosch Anglin; and generations of family and friends to greet him in heaven. Special thanks to the staff of Caring Hands Personal Care Home, including the family of Asmira Becic; caregivers Charlene Perry, Vickie Brannon, Patsy Samples, and Krissy Kimbarl. The family will receive friends at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford on Friday, October 28, 2016, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The home-going service will be led by Rev.
