Family-Placed Death Notice
MR. WILLIAM MAYO, JR. OCTOBER 11, 1937 - APRIL 17, 2006 Mr. William (J.R.) Orien Mayo, Jr., age 68, of Meansville, passed away April 17, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Union City, GA to the late William Orien Mayo, Sr. and Florence Freeman Mayo. He was employed as a mechanic and shop foreman for the City of East Point for 28 years. After retiring he began working with his sons at Mayo's Auto Clinic in Stockbridge. Mr. Mayo enjoyed working on old cars. He was a member of Jackson Drive Baptist Church in East Point. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Glen Mayo. He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Virginia Louise Deleshaw Mayo; Sons and daughters-in-law: William III (Bill) and Marcia Mayo of Stockbridge, Tandy and Debra Mayo of McDonough and Drewrey Eugene Mayo of Cherokee County; Grandchildren: Ryan Mayo, Bradley Mitchell Mayo, Drewrey David Mayo and Justin Daniel Mayo; Sisters and brothers-in-law: Peggy and Albert Stacks of East Point and Betty and David Pitts of Duluth. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Billy and Brenda Deleshaw of Concord and Wayne and Phyliss Deleshaw of Riverdale. Many family and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Moody Funeral Home with Rev. Trenton Swanson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 878, Zebulon, GA 30295 in memory of Mr. Mayo.
