BALL, Gerald Todd GERALD TODD BALL Gerald Todd Ball, 73, of Atlanta, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Born in DeKalb, Illinois, he was the son of Robert Todd and Dorothy Malone Ball. Gerry graduated from DeKalb High School and went on to earn both his B.S. and his M.B.A. at Northwestern University, and his J.D. at the University of Michigan Law School. He was also a C.P.A. Gerry spent his entire professional career with Arthur Andersen specializing in International Taxes. He was Founder and Director of Arthur Andersen's Multinational Tax Services Group in the London Office. His client list included many large corporations such as Georgia Pacific, Scientific Atlanta, Mars, The Carter Center, and Equifax. Gerry spent time at Harvard Law School, co-authoring the then-definitive treatise on the foreign tax credit, a two volume book entitled The Indirect Credit. He was an Adjunct Professor at both Georgetown and Emory University Law Schools. Gerry was also a guest lecturer at the London School of Economics and the Southern Center for International Studies. He was the President Emeritus of the US Branch of the International Fiscal Association, where he had spent several years serving on the Central IFA Finance Committee. He was one of the founders of IFA's Atlanta Region. Gerry was a former consultant to the American Law Institute Study on International Taxation and Chairman of the AICPA International Tax Committee. He was the recipient of many professional awards and the author of many white papers and articles on international taxation. Along with his wife of 47 years, Joan, he lived in Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C., London & finally Atlanta. Gerry and Joan loved traveling the world together and experiencing different cultures. He was a devoted father and husband. He was an avid runner, golfer, skier and tennis player, and he loved music and playing his guitar. Gerry had been a member of the Illinois Bar and the Washington D.C. Bar, The American Bar Association, The American Society of CPA's, as well as The Atlanta Country Club, The Commerce Club, The Ravinia, Club and was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, Joan, Gerry is survived by his son, David Ball of Dallas, TX; daughter, Kebby Holden (Reg) of San Diego, CA; brother, Larry Ball (Linda) of DeKalb, IL; sister, Bobbi Wiseman (Dick) of DeKalb, IL; brother, Bill Ball (Rose) of Long Beach, CA; brother, Jim Ball (Barb) of DeKalb, IL; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Reverend Monsignor Edward Dillon will officiate.
