ARNOLD, Frank D. Frank D. Arnold, age 92, of Valley, AL passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the Golden Living Retirement Center in Lanett, Alabama. Mr. Arnold was born in Saginaw, Michigan on August 18, 1920. He was a member of Rocky Mount The Church at Lake Harding. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He served on the USS Lejeune, the USS Myles C. Fox, and the USS Tuscaloosa, which was the transport group that took President Roosevelt to the Malta Conference. He took part in the delivery of the troops for the Invasion at Normandy, was on the Pacific Task Force for the invasion of Japan, and received numerous accolades from the French for his outstanding service and accomplishments. He retired from General Motors' Lakewood Assembly Plant after 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Wylene Butts Arnold, Valley; sons, Harley P. (Anita) Arnold, Miami; Stephen M. (Nell) Arnold, Loganville, GA, Kenneth (Toni) Carter, Milner, GA, Michael (Pat) Arnold, Reynolds, Ga; stepson, Craig Butts, Valley; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Michael Arnold, Newport, RI, Ellen Downing, Portsmouth, RI, Barbara McMillan, San Bernardino, CA, John McMillan, San Bernardino, CA, Chris Klist, New London, MN, Tim Arnold, Rome, GA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 4:00PM (EST) at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home in Valley from 3:00PM (EST) until service time. Funeral services will also be held at the Tom M. Wages Funeral Service Chapel in Snellville, GA on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at 3:00PM (EST) with interment to follow in the Eternal Hills Memory Gardens in Snellville, GA.
