Family-Placed Death Notice

HAMPSON, Jr., Thomas Thomas Banister Hampson, Jr. ,85, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday February 25, 2013. He was born in Anniston, Alabama January 30, 1928 to Mildred Sharpe Hampson and Thomas Hampson Sr. His family was very involved with Grace Episcopal Church in Anniston going back to his great-grandfather. His family belonged to and were active members of the Anniston Country Club. Tom graduated from Anniston High School then attended the University of Alabama, and then graduated from Emory University School of Law. After law school, he was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for two years serving as an assistant to the Adjutant General. After serving his country, he returned to Atlanta, Georgia where he was employed in the insurance business before joining The Trust Company of Georgia. He was employed as a trust attorney until his retirement in the mid 1980's. He is survived by his cousin, Mildred Davis of Birmingham, Alabama and many close friends. His partner in life for over 50 years, Cleonard "Tubby" Dawkins, predeceased Tom in July of 2010. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday March 20,2013 at Edgemont Cemetery 3555 Noble St., Anniston, Alabama 36207 at 1:00PM Central Time.
