BENNER, Sue A memorial service celebrating the life of Sue Benner, of Smoke Rise, Georgia will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00am at Living Grace Lutheran Church. Sue died on February 14, 2014. Born November 12, 1940 in Bacon County, Georgia, she is survived by her husband of forty-five years, David Benner; daughter Veronica and husband Bill Rumble; daughter Cindy and husband Jerry Phillips, and son Franklin and wife Sheree Benner; four grandchildren, two great-grandsons and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members. An active member of Living Grace, Sue was long-time Chair of the Community Outreach Committee especially participating in the sewing and quilting groups, the Gas Cards for Foster Families Annual Campaign and the Women's Prison Ministry program. Sue was also a dedicated member on the boards of NETWorks Cooperative Ministry and the Shearith Israel Night Shelter for Women. She served as Keywoman for Church Women United and served in numerous capacities for the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. A retired Broker for Northside Realty, in addition to her professional accomplishments, Sue was an avaricious reader of all types of literature; she was especially fond of stories featuring mystery and intrigue. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to all members of her immediate and extended families, she particularly enjoyed celebrating special occasions with family and friends at her home. Her love, her compassion, her tenacity, her dedication, insightfulness and integrity were shared with all in an open and effusive way that provided others hope, direction and wisdom that will be carried by them for a lifetime. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Living Grace Lutheran Church, 1812 Cooledge Road Tucker, GA 30084. Condolences can be expressed on line at A. S.
