CRIDER, James JAMES THOMAS CRIDER James Thomas Crider, age 80, of Powder Springs, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 27th at First Baptist Church in Powder Springs, with remains in state at 1:00 pm. Brother Herschel Tibbitts, Rev. Dr. Mike Woods, and Rev, Lamar Rackley officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. He is survived by Melba Elliott Crider, his wife of sixty years; five children, Chuck (Wanda), Rick (Carol), Steve (Cathy), Stephanie (Tim), Randy (Cherie); seventeen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; brother, Roy; two sisters, Joyce and Linda. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Vick, and brother, Russell. Tommy was a life- long resident of Powder Springs and member of the Deacon Board at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was one of the founders, and first President of the Powder Springs Youth Organization where he dedicated forty plus years of his life to the youth of Powder Springs. Tommy served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in April of 1962. He was employed at Lockheed in Marietta for eighteen plus years, then at Alco Manufacturing Company in Douglasville, GA until his retirement. Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, and 5:00pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Powder Springs. 770-943-1511
